Kendriya Vidyalayas previously known as Central Schools , are co-educational Vidyalayas established in 1963 under the aegis of kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan , an autonomous body under under the ministry of human Resource Develpoment, Govt. of India to cater theducationl needs of transferable Central Govt. Employee including Defence personnel . More than 900 kendriya Vidyalaya, with more than 45000 staff and 7.5 lakh students , are spread across the entire length and breadth with a few based abroad.
Kendriya Vidyalaya, BHEL was established on July 7, 1975 under the
chairman of Mr. A.K Khosla , E.D & G.G.M. and Mr. A.K Sinha as the
Founder Principal . Since then , there has been no looking back. Nestled
in the lush green and clean environment under the foothills of Shivalik
Ranges of Himalayas and in the campus of the prestigious industrial
Giant Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited , it continues to grow from
strength to strength and add new dimensions.
It is housed in app. 25 acres of open land . Being a project school ,
it caters to the needs of the children of the employees of BHEl and its
sister institutions . It has now emerged as CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE
in Haridwar and in the country.
